With the expansion in the IT sector, not only in India but all over the world, the demand for engineers have also increased over the last few years. B.Tech or Bachelors in Technology is a four-year undergraduate academic course with a semester system of examination for those who want to pursue their career in the Technical field.
Aspirants seeking admission in top-level IITs and NITs are required to give an All India Common Entrance Examination namely JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). JEE is conducted in two parts - JEE main and JEE-Advanced. Only the top 15,000 who clear JEE-Main will be able to attempt JEE-Advanced. The application process of filling the form and sending to the Institute is enturely online. State-level engineering entrance examinations, CET (Common Entrance Test), is also conducted every year to grant admission to professional engineering colleges within the state.
The students must have cleared the High School Examination or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and should have Mathematics and Physics as their subjects in Class XII. Any of the subjects from Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science and Biology should have been their optional subject. The minimum age to apply for B.Tech is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 23 years on the date of the exam. SC/ST/PD candidates have an upper age relaxation of 5 years to appear for JEE Mains.
There are lot of options available after successful completion of B.Tech. Irrespective of the branch one has taken during their engineering, they can get job in software industry with their skills. IITs and NITs place almost 90% of the students during campus placements only in top level multi-national companies every year. Apart from private sector, government sector companies like BHEL, MTNL, BSNL, Indian Oil Corporation etc. also hire lots of engineers every year to meet the technical needs of their organization.
If the aspirants are interested in studying further, they can do Post Graduation in courses like M.Tech (Masters of Technology), which is a technical course and MBA (Masters of Business Administration), if someone is interested in finance and business-related courses.
