ABOUT COLLEGE

IIT Bhubaneswar, founded in 2008, with the motive to provide its student with the best of technical education in the region and also in the country. It was established under the aegis of IIT – Kharagpur and has been recognized by the UGC and approved by AICTE.

The institute admits the student in B. Tech, M. Tech, MSc. and Ph.D. programs. Each program offers various specializations to the students. IIT Bhubaneswar Admissions are based on the marks secured by the applicants in the entrance exams such as JEE Advanced, GATE, JAM and UGC-NET.

IIT Bhubaneswar Courses Offered

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in the engineering field. All the programs are examined below:

Undergraduate Program

IIT Bhubaneswar offers B. Tech programs in 6 specializations. Candidates are required to appear for JEE Advanced as mandatory eligibility criteria for admission to the program. Allotment of seats is carried out by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) based on the applicant’s JEE rank.

Postgraduate Program

IIT Bhubaneswar offers M. Tech courses with specializations in 10 disciplines. The selection of candidates in M.tech is done on the basis of GATE score, a written test conducted by the institute which is followed by a personal interview session. 
Admission to the MSc program is done on the basis of JAM (Joint Entrance Test).

Doctoral Program

IIT-BBS offers Ph.D. courses in 14 different disciplines. Selection of the candidates for Ph.D. programs is subject to GATE score, a written exam and interview. It is mandatory for the candidates to qualify GATE / UGC-NET (LS or JRF) before applying for Ph.D.

Important points:

• Candidate without valid GATE score will be shortlisted only if they have obtained a minimum 65% marks (or 7.0 CGPA IN 10 –point scale) in all academic examinations.
• A relaxation of 5% marks is permitted only in one academic examination. This is applicable for all M. Tech courses.
• Candidates in the unreserved category will be eligible for an interview subject to scoring a minimum of 40% of the maximum marks in the written test and a minimum of 50% marks in the interview.

Key points for Ph.D. admission:

• 5% relaxation of marks in the qualifying degree examination would be granted to the SC/ST/PwD candidates.
• 100% tuition fee waiver for SC/ST students except for sponsored category.
• For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the application fee is INR 150.
• Female candidates are exempted from the payment of application fee.

IIT Bhubaneswar Application Process

For B. Tech

Candidates applying for any of the B. Tech. programs offered by IIT-BBS are required to ensure fulfillment of basic eligibility criteria with regards to the percentile of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam, prior to filling the application form. Candidates cannot apply directly through institute website. They need to first apply for JEE Main and then for JEE Advanced in order to get admission in the institute.

For M. Tech & Ph.D.

The official website of IIT Bhubaneswar facilitates filling and form submission for M. Tech & Ph.D. courses. Candidates need to follow these steps:

• Visit the official website of IIT-BBS
• The link to application form can be found under ‘News and Update Section’ on the home page
•  Search for a link titled ‘M. Tech Admission 2017’/ ‘Ph.D. Admission 2017’
• Click on the link and register the requisite details
• A User ID and Password will be generated
• Proceed to the online application form for the desired M. Tech/Ph.D. course with login credentials.
• Pay the application fee and submit your application
• Take a printout of the submitted form
